I’ve been a member, more or less from the outset, of photo group that was formed as part of the activities at the much missed photo bookshop Beyond Words. Now that the bookshop has moved onto an online format the group meets at Spoon instead, the first Monday of the month. Anyone interested in Lomo/Lofi photography is welcome to attend. Now we are having our first group exhibition at the Edinburgh Fine Art Library. (If you are unfamiliar, it is inside the Central Library on George IV Bridge. Head upstairs and then look for a side door between floors to take you up another flight of stairs ) There are about 8 of us exhibiting this time round using a wide range of cameras – Lomos, Holgas, Pinholes and of course Polaroid. The nice thing about a group show is that there will hopefully be something that appeals to everyone.
If you are in Edinburgh pop in and have a look. And when you are done go and have a coffee at the Cellar Door Patisserie further along George IV Bridge. Or cafe Lucca with half price pastries after 2.30. And then have a quick dash down Candlemaker Row and pop in to Hannah Zakari’s treasure trove of unusual gifts or Analogue Books – a great resource for anyone interested in graphics or design.
There, that is an afternoon sorted for you. If you are out of town – here is the virtual gallery now uploaded so you can still have a look.
Next Studio Newsletter out tomorrow , if all goes to plan. If you’d like to be “In the Know” you can subscribe here.
