Reverb10 – December 1st

Coconut Cupcake - Iphonography

Last year I did some of the Best09 prompts that Gwen Bell posted on her blog. This year she has come up with a new format “Reverb10”

Today’s prompt is this –

December 1 One Word.
Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?
(Author: Gwen Bell)

The word I’d choose for 2010 is “Steady”. This was not the year of speedy progress or amazing developments. It was the year of keeping one eye on the course I’ve set for myself and keeping steadily on that route, despite the odd bump. Of mastering new skills and refining existing ones. I’m not unhappy with this choice of word as the main way to a creative life is to “start, don’t stop”. Nothing more complicated than that.

For 2011 I’d like the word to be “Bloom” and to see some of the projects I’ve been working on finally come into flower.

  1. Those are both beautiful words. It maed me think that my 2010 word might be “unsteady” or maybe “shaken”, given events here 🙂
Seriously, I could probably come up with a better one, but December is a hopeless month for reflection in the southern hemisphere, with Christmas madness and the garden running rampant. January is much more meditative. I’m thinking of postponing New Year’s Day until February 1st at least.
